DIsneyUTV Motion Pictures is trying its best to release the film in every nook and corner of the country. There are more that 3000 screens that the movie is releasing in. The main aim of the studio is to garner as much money in the first weekend as possible.
Himmatwala has been made, promoted and released at an approximate cost of Rs. 85 crores. The satellite rights of this film are sold at Rs. 40 crores while the music rights are sold for Rs. 5 – 10 crs. The movie will fetch another 5 – 10 crs from Home Video and other sources of revenue. This means that to break even, the distributor share for this film has to be atleast 30 – 35 crores for which the box office collection for Himmatwala has to be in the region of 70 – 75 crores. Analysts in the film trade circuit feel that collecting 75 crores will be an easy task but the only thing that the producers should be wary about is the Opening Weekend. If the film has a negative word-of-mouth, collections will be poorly affected! Huge collections are expected from single screen and ‘masses’ dominated areas in the country.
My prediction for Himmatwala is 85 – 90 crores net all india. Let’s wait and watch the fate of Himmatwala!
