Cricketer Rahul Dravid, actress Sharmila Tagore and Sridevi, and DRDO chief VK Saraswat were among the 54 people honored with Padma awards today by President Pranab Mukherjee. Sculptor Raghunath Mohapatra and researcher Yash Pal received Padma Vibhushan, India's highest civilian award second.
Saraswat, Tagore, film producer D Ramanaidu and Dravid was presented the third highest Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri has Sridevi as President at a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan Darbar Hall. The ten recipients of Padma Bhushan included Hemendra Singh Panwar, Shivajirao Girdhar Patil Yatindra Kanak Rele, Prof Ashoke Sen, Professor Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak and Ramamurthy Thyagarajan.
Theater personality B Jayashree, boxer Ngangom Dingko Marina Singh of India photographer Pablo Bartholomew and Major Subedar Bajrang Lal Takhar also received Padma Shri. S Lakshminarayana Vandana Luthra, SKM Maeilanandhan, Kailash Chandra Meher, Chandrashekhar Neelima Mishra, P Madhavan Nair, Sankar Kumar Pal, RAM Brahmdeo Pandit, Rajshree Pathy, Bhaskar Deepak Phatak, Mudundi Ramakrishna Raju, CS Venkata Ram, R Nageshwar Rao, Surender Sharma, Jayram Jaymala Shiledar, Rama Kant Shukla, Ajay Kumar Sood, Pt Suresh Talwalkar, Kumar Rajendar Tiku and Waxy Akhtarul also received Padma Shri.
The 42 individuals honored with Padma Shri Avnita including Abbi, Sudarshan Kumar Aggarwal, Sharfe Mohammad Alam, Gajam Anjaiah, Rajendra Achyut Badwe, Memendra Prasad Barooah, GCD Bharti, Ravindra Singh Bisht, Avinash Chander, Taraprasad Das, Viswanathan Trichur Devarajan, Sanjay Govind Dhande , Chooramani Saroj Gopal, Japan Noboru Karashima, Ram Krishan (posthumous), Salik Lakhnawi (posthumous) and Manju Bharat Ram (posthumous).
This year Q # # # # s list of honors were announced on January 25 and another ceremony is expected later presentation of awards to the remaining beneficiaries.
